Recycled plastic wood is gaining market share in applications ranging from floors and pallets, retaining walls, outdoor furniture for parks and gardens, children's tables, garden elements. Recycled plastic wood is generally perceived as an environmentally friendly substitute for hardwoods from endangered forests, and a non-toxic alternative to pressure-treated wood, which contains copper and other chemicals.
Wood plastic is also an important market for consumer discarded plastics, helping to divert significant amounts of materials from landfills and the disposal incinerator. The term "plastic lumber for construction" covers a wide range of materials and products.
